Today, almost 80% of domestic chopstick production is in Wakasa region, Fukui.
"Wakasa" is a region in the southwest part of Fukui Prefecture.
Wakasa lacquer chopsticks (Wakasa-nuri-bashi) are one of Japan's traditional crafts dating back to the early Edo period (1603~1690) in Obama City, Fukui.
