Traditional Technique

Using traditional foil materials such as "leaf", "teared leaf", "string leaf", "cut leaf" and "scattered leaf", these fans are made with the techniques used for Japanese traditional washi paper decoration and painting.

Each Kanazawa gold folding fan is meticulously crafted by hand, taking advantage of the natural wrinkles, delicate thinness and softness of Kanazawa foil, and the designs and colors of each fan is totally unique.

Handling Precautions

Kanazawa gold leaf folding fans are delicate as they are all handmade by craftsmen. Please keep the following in mind so that they can be used for a long time.

1) Wrinkles (dimples) on a folding fan

In order to make a folding fan easy to close and fit well, the rib is heated and bent inward. Therefore, the Japanese washi paper that is attached to the rib may have wrinkles. This is a result of the handmade process, so please understand it in advance and enjoy the Kanazawa gold leaf folding fan.

2) About SEMEGAMI (washi paper band)

The washi paper band that closes and holds the folding fan is called "SEMEGAMI". It prevents the folding fan from spreading and losing its shape when folded.
We recommend that you keep the paper band to keep the fan in good quality for a longer period of time.
